Posters Which I Find Interesting!

The following images Im going to comment on are posters on which I have found which I find interesting and that I like. Hopefully I can take inspiration from them which will help my work progress further.

The first poster I am going to look at is on of my favourites! I found it on a website called flicker, which contains a many different number of images. This thing I really like about this poster is how the text is written to create the building. Not only that they have been put in such a way that it looks like your looking up at the sky and the building's our touring above you. However its not just the building that is in text, the whole poster is text, including the sky. They have managed to achieve this by using different shade's and colour's of text to give it that appeal. One thing I don't like about the poster however is how the building's are all positioned, Its as if they have just randomly put in places and there not neatly spaced from each other.

This next poster is interesting because of how it's made the words stand out. By making them gradually grow bigger down the page, it make's me want to read it for some reason. I like how they have just stuck with two different colour's and not gone crazy because I think that the simplicity in this poster works well. Another thing I also like is how at the bottom the word "Technical" has been placed upside down. I believe in my own personal opinion that they have done this because of what the word mean's, that since the word is technical they have made it slightly 'Technical' To read. One minus point about the poster in my opinion is how the big letters don't roll into the bottom one's like speech or something. Or maybe they could have put a "Why" In front of the small text to make the grammar better. However that isn't a major minus point and doesn't really spoil the look of the poster at all.

The poster to the right is good because the letter 'S' for the word 'Symbols' Is made out of symbols. On the left hand side I gave it a try in illustrator using the same concept of making up the first letter with what the word means. The thing I like the most about this idea is the simplicity of it. That a poster doesn't need to be complicated a crowed to catch the viewers attention.
This next poster is another simply poster. The way that they have used 5 bright colours on a grey dull background makes them stand out. They have done this with the 5 letters which make up the word "IDEAS" And also the 5 words underneath. I like how the words underneath go with the main word 'Ideas', such as 'BIG' Ideas or 'Any' Ideas and so on. The thing I don't like about this poster is the spacing of it, the way you have the big bold writing more to the top and the white writing towards the bottom right corner. However again this isn't a major problem and the creator most likely preferred it that way. But in no way does that ruin this poster at all.

This next poster is similar to the "Symbols" poster however instead of Type/Symbols making up words, it has made up two human figures kissing for the background of the poster. I like how the different sizes of letters making up the people are all scattered and how they have no consistent pattern too them. This type of poster in my opinion would be aimed at older teens or young adults and how they are trying to get their serious point across on how by a certain time, the worlds water will have decreased by 30%.

The next poster on the left hand side is really clever in the way its set out to have blocks of text, but the to the bottom left, in a way it breaking out of its guidelines in a way, slowing pouring out all the letters onto the bottom of the page. I also like how it has remained simple by using only two different colours, even though its using a rather complicated idea.

This next poster is one of my favorites out of all the one's I've looked at so far. This is because it sparked a discussion between and a few other people on what the image was trying to create. I personally thought that the text made up the image of a dragon, were as other people I talked too thought It resembled a Horse. This was interesting to discuss because it made me see how other people look at images. However one thing I don't like about this poster is that I don't really know what it is trying to say. What's the meaning behind the poster, is it a advertisement or simple what someone has created in there free time? And is there a reason for some of the words/lines to put into bold text.

This next poster has been made too look like the eye test charts that you get from the optitions. This is rather clever because it makes you stop to read it, as if the words are put in there to challenge the viewer. What I don't like about the poster is around the same reason why I find the poster interesting. Because it is like a eye test, for someone who struggles to see small letters and such, It make me have to put on my glasses to look at it. So if people who chose not to wear their glasses when going out and see this poster, they may ignore it because they wont be able to read it in the first place.

This poster is extremely but that is what makes it so good. What the creator has don't it made up their text using different symbols you would find in the Glyphs section in illustrator. Also I like the use of the 3 colours, how you don't need a bright multicoloured poster to grab the viewers attention. This poster is advertised mainly at people who like type, who can look at it and see the words it is trying to spell out, Which are, "Is this type or aren't you reading this".

This next poster is interesting by the way it looks slightly 3D. Were pieces of the words Playful are breaking off it and flying out all over the place. The part about It I feel is slightly pointless is the green line and the single pink like wrapping around the 'P' and 'H', although I understand it might be representing a Streamer of some sort, however I feel there should be more than one of them if that's the case.

This poster plays tricks on my eye's so that why I find it so interesting. It has a load of white straight lines, however if you were to look at it for a few seconds those lines start to look like there bent slightly. Also because it such a big white area on a black background I feel it helps catch my attention more than most posters have. I also like the simplicity of the poster, with just a plain black background and white text.

This poster is a film poster for the Spirit. What I liked about this poster is the way its made to look 3D and also has been given the same texture as building to help it blen in more. I also like how the title "The Spirit" is the same colour as the figure's tie, So that it works in with the poster.

This poster Is interesting a different. I think if I were to have a pair of 3D glasses maybe the image would be able too stand out and look 3D because It looks like the creator has used the colours which allow things to look 3D. I also like how different letters of the typeface are all piled together at the bottom of the poster, but not in a way so they clash.

This poster is completely made up of type. They have put the type so close on the bird however it is extremely hard to make make out any of the letters. However the way they have done it, spacing them out slightly more around the birds tail and tummy makes them not need to change the colour of the text, because the gaps make the white shade for them. There isn't really anything i dislike about this poster, i think the colours they have chosen go well and would easily grab a person's attention.

This next poster has the type in the building, but doesn't make the building which Is a shame because I think it would look better if the town was made up of different shades and colour's to make it up. However the one thing that caught my eye about this poster it the way to timeline has been put into it. It goes along to street, going up in dates. I like how it just blends in, not being out of place at all and the way people are just walking past, Walking past the years.
This poster is good because of the way the text is laid out and the the way it has been designed. I like how it looks like a wet running liquid type thing which just gloops together, forming these words and it either pours into a hole in the group, or comes out of it. I also like the colour which have been used, and how ever though the bright seems to be the odd one out compared to the purple and pink but it blends in and works well. There isn't really anything I dislike about this poster and i think the designer has done a really good job.

The thing that got my attention about this poster was the text and how it made me chuckle slightly. Its a well know comical gimick that if a person were to drink milk and chuckle, sometimes milk is to spill out their nose. Well this poster is saying how since have milk in them, does it come out their nose when they laugh? The way the designer has used different styles and textures for each text is really eye catching. They have used white milk style text for the actual word milk and also how they used what a cows body would look like for the word cow and nose. The one thing I don't like about this poster is the colour of the background, and maybe they could have gone for a light green for grass or something like that. but again it doesn't really ruin the Type of the poster or the poster in general.
By far this is one of my most favorite posters of type which I have seen up to date. I find in amazing how the female in the background has been done in such detail even though its made completely of type. I think how the designer managed to create this was by taking a photo of a women, an then creating sections around her, filling it in with text, overlaying text were it need to be done so it made areas look darker for shading. I also like how the bigger type which cover parts of the woman truly say what she is/looks like, a woman of beauty or a portrait of a model.

This poster is good with the words it has chosen. Everyone pretty much knows the saying "Go Big or go home", which is a good saying to go with a snowboarding advertisement,. This is because snowboarding can't be easy, so if your not willing to give it you all you might as well not try at all. I like how the word BIG is the biggest piece of type in the poster. I like how people turn what the word mean's, and uses it in the design of the word. I also like the colour scheme they have used with the black green and white, and not ruined it with loads of different colours.

I have seen many similar posters to this one and I feel that this one stood out the most for me. this is because of the bright pink that was included amongst the rest of the colours. I like how there is loads of different sizes of text for each row, but its still easy to read even though they have done this. I think its a very good technique which you can find a lot of and even though it has been reproduced many times, it still works well
